Canada's Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), managing assets on behalf of 343,000 members, has been awarded Best Pension Trading Team at Markets Media Group’s 2025 Global Markets Choice Awards. The fund’s in-house trading strategy emphasizes specialization, with a dedicated center of excellence enhancing investment performance through advanced analytics and technology.

Kevin Duggan, a 27-year veteran at OTPP, highlights the evolution of trading as a critical component of the investment lifecycle. "There’s an acknowledgement that trading is a very important part of the investment life cycle, as opposed to just being something you need to get done quickly," Duggan notes. The centralized approach has influenced peers in pension and asset management to adopt similar models.
